The same error happened to me in Vista Ultimate without having virtual pc 2007 installed. With me, it had nothing to do with virtual pc - I did have virtual pc installed a while ago (before reinstalling the Vista os) and did not have any problems with fax at that time. The fax modem is internal, in my notebook.

After installing them, you will be able to up the video card resolution and color depth (without it, the max is 4 colors! yuck!) I notice the virtual PC wouldn't allow me to use Vista Premium with XP Pro anyway, is that right? I don't understand your question.
